On the second Thursday of most months, from 6:00 to 7:00 in the evening, a small group of singers gathers for the simple purpose of singing together. Singing has proven to be a great way to de-stress, relax, have fun and meet some great new friends. You don’t have to be a professional singer! In fact, most who gather have modest experience with singing but are finding this a terrific way to engage their voice in a safe and comfortable environment.
What do we sing? Well, nothing too churchy. We usually start with something relaxing, often a song for peace in the world, our community and ourselves. We have a few favourites that often come up, like a song from South African, Babalela, which means “never give up!” The rest of the hour is filled with singing a variety of songs around a particular theme, such as love songs near Valentines Day, carols in December, songs about music or justice and peace songs.
Please note that we will not be meeting in July and August. Our only summer sing will be on July 11, featuring songs of Canada.
If you’ve never been to COME SING, please join us. It would fantastic to have more members of the church join this emerging group of neighbourhood friends.
Please e-mail Scott Weidler at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or suggestions for songs to sing this month or in future gatherings.
