Student Ministry

Are you a student? Are there students in your family or friendship circles? Did you know First Lutheran and the Student Christian Movement (SCM) are partners in a vibrant ministry engaging with students?

Since COVID19 this Toronto Metropolitan University-based ministry has gone on to ZOOM, and the weekly SCM Contextual Bible studies take place online. Students and young adults from the rest of the GTA are welcome to take part. The Bible studies and other activities are publicized on the SCM at Toronto Metropolitan University U Facebook page. Meet our co-ordinator, Gwen Xiao

Hi! I am Gwen Xiao and I am the new Student Christian Movement Toronto Metropolitan University coordinator. I am a graduate student at TMU studying biomedical engineering. This is also my first year in Canada, so I am very grateful that I found the First ELC and worshiped God with the congregation. It is a blessing for me to start this coordinator job to share the love of God and continue my faith journey with the students.

The SCM-TMU contextual Bible study will be on Tuesdays, 1:30 PM at First Lutheran. Email Gwen for more info: tmu@scmcanada.org

First Lutheran is blessed to be part of this collaboration in campus ministry with the Student Christian Movement,  Lutheran Campus Ministry of Toronto, and the Youth and Young Adults Ministries fund of the Eastern Synod. Read more about SCM here: https://scmcanada.org/

Pastor Ralph Carl is the supportive chaplain to SCM TMU and a member of the Toronto Metropolitan University Interfaith Committee. He is available to meet with students for pastoral conversations by appointment. Please contact him using this link  Ralph Carl Wushke
