FAITH AND BIG IDEAS
Faith and Big Ideas is an intensive, peer-led study group facilitated by Elliot Gunn, a First Lutheran initiative, with support from the Student Christian Movement. We appreciate the challenge of exploring big questions & messy ideas through informed teaching. Come learn from expert speakers on a wide range of eclectic topics! Winter 2022 semester we are discussing Biblical translations, Gnosticism, Process Theology, the historical Jesus, purity culture, and more. All are welcome! BAPTIZED, WE LIVE
Daniel Erlander’s graphic novel style exploration of Lutheran ethos and theology is the basis of this course. Pastor Ralph Carl Wushke facilitates the eight-session “deeper dive” into the Reformation as it is lives on in our time, supplementing Erlander’s work with sources from contemporary scholars. Offered based on interest.

BOOK STUDIES
The First Lutheran Book Study Group holds animated online discussions of books on contemporary themes and ideas. Recent titles include Lenny Duncan’s Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S., Wab Kinew’s The Reason You Walk and Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass. Study group members select the book for each study and take turns facilitating a chapter-by-chapter discussion. Please contact the pastor for info.

MEN'S BREAKFAST
The first Saturday of the month 8:00 AM Men’s Breakfast turned into a BYOB Zoom breakfast group during the pandemic. It’s an informal time of friendship and spiritual support. The pre-pandemic restaurant location has now closed and the group looking for a new venue. Dennis Miles coordinates this group. Please contact the pastor to be added to the listserv.

WOMEN'S BREAKFAST
A monthly Women’s Breakfast launched in May 2022. Interested women are sincerely invited to join this group for supportive conversation and friendship on the first Saturday of the month at 8 AM. Meetings are currently online. Christine Mehling is one of the coordinators of this group. Please contact the pastor to be added to the email list.
