Our Ministries

Arts-based Exploration

The arts express God’s creative energy in our world and invite us into a powerful and mystical process of creation.

The Little Pantry

People can take what they need or donate non-perishable food items to help keep the pantry stocked. We hope this project will enhance food security in the Bond Street and Toronto Metropolitan University University neighbourhood and help build a caring and supportive community.

Student Ministry

Student Christian Movement is a diverse, youth-led movement across Canada and around the world, promoting justice, community, and spirituality. SCM Toronto Metropolitan University includes people of many beliefs breaking open and challenging the Christian tradition. You can find us on Wednesdays at our Feminist Bible Study, at monthly Table gatherings, and other events. Check out the rest of the page for what is coming up.

Gospel Choir

IN-KLOO-SIV Voices is the resident auditioned Gospel choir at First Lutheran. Jacen Duncan is the founding artistic director of this welcoming and affirming ensemble.

Spiritual Renewal

Throughout the year, we offer opportunities to deepen your spiritual life. Bible studies, courses, prayer groups, worship, joining with other Christians in the city-these all renew our spirits.

Choir

Are you interested in joining a choir? Ábner Campos Elpino is calling out to all potential choristers to join in. The repertoire and parts will be determined based on the response. Ábner promises some Brazilian flavour in the repertoire as well as sacred music from the tradition. The First ELC choir rehearses after the Sunday service from noon-1 pm. It is free and unauditioned. Please contact Ábner for more info: music@firstelc.ca

Children's Program

A “families with children” and “children’s faith formation” program is being developed under the leadership of Rúbia Ruppenthal. Activities will be based on interest and availability of families and children and may include outdoor gatherings and occasional children’s time during the Sunday service. Children-friendly liturgical moments are also planned.
