Care and Outreach

I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.” John 13:34-35, Common English Bible

These are among the last words Jesus gave to his disciples the night before He was crucified. Taking care of one another is a natural extension of the Christian life.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE COMMITTEE

We encourage members of the congregation to stay in touch by various means. If you are aware of anyone at First who needs support please contact Pastor Ralph Carl Wushke

PASTORAL CARE AND SUPPORT

Our pastor is available on an appointment basis to offer support during difficult times. Illness, death, family crisis, workplace stress, these are all issues where our pastor can help you find strength and support through our faith. He can meet you at home, in hospital, in her office, or anywhere else you would feel comfortable. You can reach him anytime by leaving a confidential message at 416-977-4786.

If a friend or family member is in need of support from our pastor, do not hesitate to give him a call.

SENIORENVEREIN

This German speaking seniors group meets monthly from April to December on Wednesdays from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Singing, inspirational talks, good food and great fellowship abound. Come join us—we’re all young at heart, building an ever growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We are friends: old friends making new friends, always allowing the circle to grow wider.  Please contact the Pastor for more information.

The Seniorenverein is not meeting at this time due to the risks associated with COVID19 transmission.

MEN’S BREAKFAST

Men’s Breakfast is a long-time tradition at First. It is always the 1st Saturday of the month, all year round at 8:00 am.  Due to COVID19 the Men’s Breakfast has become a BYOB – Bring Your Own Breakfast – on ZOOM. Please use the contact form to reach Pastor Ralph Carl for the ZOOM URL.

LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS

We partner with local agencies to provide space, volunteers, and donations for wider outreach. We work with the Toronto Metropolitan University Student Union Good Food Centre Break-Feast program, providing free breakfasts to students. We also collect donations for the Toronto Overdose Prevention Society.
