Student Ministry

Are you a student? Are there students in your family or friendship circles? Did you know First Lutheran and the Student Christian Movement (SCM) are partners in a vibrant ministry engaging with students?

Since COVID19 this Ryerson-based ministry has gone on to ZOOM, and the weekly SCM Contextual Bible studies take place online. Students and young adults from the rest of the GTA are welcome to take part. The Bible studies and other activities are publicized on the SCM at Ryerson U Facebook page. Check it out here:

Meet our co-ordinator, Dunc Urquhart

Dunc is a first year Master of Divinity Student at Emmanuel College, University of Toronto. They are also a podcast host/ cast member for Folks & Fables, a Dungeons and Dragons podcast that explores co-operative storytelling and story-world building. Dunc is also an English Literature Graduate from Trent University, where they specialized in Creative Writing, World Building, and Genre Narrative Structures. It is there that they also worked for Trent Spiritual Affairs, running and developing Multi-Faith Educational Event Programming, focussing on supporting Queer students of faith.

First Lutheran is blessed to be part of this collaboration in campus ministry with the Student Christian Movement,  Lutheran Campus Ministry of Toronto, and the Youth and Young Adults Ministries fund of the Eastern Synod. Read more about SCM here:
